Welcome!

Online-psychotherapy.net is now undergoing extensive re-construction, and we hope to emerge with an even bigger and better site later this year. We hope you'll check back with us soon, but in the meantime, you may find some of the following resources useful:

Metanoia.org
This is probably the oldest and most well-known site anywhere that focuses on online therapy, and its day it was a spectacularly helpful resource. Unfortunately, what many visitors (and webmasters linking to the site) don't realize is that Metanoia has not been regularly updated for many years, and some of the content is now so badly out of date that it risks seriously misleading visitors. The creator of the site, Martha Ainsworth, left the profession for greener pastures long ago, and as far as we've been able to tell, she no longer replies to any email contacts regarding the site or its contents. While there is much here that's still of use, caveat emptor: the site's view of the field is no longer accurate or complete.
CounsellingResource.com
Possibly the single largest resource now available on counseling and psychotherapy (including online therapy), this site is edited by an experienced online therapist in private practice. If you're looking for the 'real deal' -- someone who is actually making a living online as a mental health professional -- this is the place to start. (Note the UK spelling of 'counselling' in the site name.)
ISMHO
The International Society for Mental Health Online was formed in the late 90's to promote -- you guessed it -- online mental health and now includes a couple of hundred members from around the world, all of whom share an interest in some aspect of online mental health. Although few of its members actually practice online themselves, the group remains one of the only games in town for mental health professionals interested in the area. Caveat emptor, however: recent evidence reveals some pretty bad ISMHO ethics problems.
SupervisionResource.com
Well, it's under construction just like we are, but nonetheless if you're interested in clinical supervision, including online supervision, this may become an important resource on the topic.

Please check back with us again to see the results of our re-construction...!
